Real-life Stories
Explaining restorative justice can be a challenge. We know that stories are often more persuasive than explanations. Here, we have chosen vignettes from actual cases at the program. Of course, identities are withheld to protect confidentiality.
Adult Program
William entered the program with $1,500 in fines, $2,000 in back child support, a suspended license, and a desire to change his life. William worked hard to save money and make better decisions. After 7 months in the program he had paid all his fines and satisfied his child support obligations. He consistently pays child support, has secured his license, and is working to improve his employment skills. The road has not always been easy and some actions have resulted in program sanctions, but William is working to break the pattern of poor choices that led him to court.
